Computer Services offer a wide variety of monthly tech classes and programs to help you learn the basics of Microsoft programs, Google apps, and more! Each month’s programs are listed below. To view videos of these programs, visit the OLPL YouTube channel HERE.

Tech Help Hour

Mondays from 2-3 p.m. in the Computer Training Center
Drop in for assistance with your computer, smartphone or other device.

Social Media Basics

Tuesdays, Sept. 12, Oct. 10 & Nov. 21 from 6-7 p.m.
Get acquainted with social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Intro to Excel

Wednesdays, Sept. 20, Oct. 25 & Nov. 15 from 10-11 a.m.
Track and analyze data using spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel. Requires basic computer skills.

Explore OLPL Databases

Friday, Sept. 22 from 10-11 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 10-11 a.m.

Take a tour of OLPL’s online databases!

Word Basics

Wednesdays, Sept. 27 & Nov. 1 from 10-11 a.m.
Learn to create, save, open, print and make changes to documents in Microsoft Word. Requires basic computer skills.

Mouse and Keyboard

Thursdays, Sept. 28 & Oct. 26 from 2-3 p.m.
Get started with a keyboard and mouse in our Computer Training Center!

Tech Craft: Tote Bag

Thursdays, Sept. 28, Oct. 12 & Nov. 16 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Create a personalized tote bag using design software for our vinyl cutting machine. Registration is required. Please register

Tuesdays, Oct. 3 & Nov. 14 from 6-7 p.m.
Discover how you can create quick and professional looking designs using Canva. Requires basic
computer skills.

File Management Basics

Discover how to store and organize files by creating and managing folders in the Windows File Explorer.

Internet Basics

Thursdays, Oct. 19 & Nov. 16 from 2-3 p.m.
Learn how to navigate webpages and find things on the internet.

Tech One-on-One

Various days
Register for a 30-minute help session at cal.olpl.org/appointments or by calling the Computer Center Desk at ext. 540. Registration is required.

 

Computer Center Services

Computer Center shuts down 15 minutes prior to the library closing.

PUBLIC COMPUTERS

Computers available for one hour per day.

  • Computer equipment and chairs will be cleaned between each use.
  • The copy machine and fax machine are available without an appointment.
  • The Computer Center is unable to provide change for the copy machines or printing.
  • Guest Passes available for those without a library card for $1.00/hour.

WALK-UP COMPUTERS

Two walk-up computers are available for 15-minutes of use without an appointment. The walk-ups are located in the Computer Center area. A document scanner is available with one walk-up computer.

LAPTOPS

The Computer Center has 6 laptops available for patron use. Laptops may be borrowed for one hour per day and must be used inside the library. Laptops are available to patrons 16 years or older and require a photo ID to check out.

PRINTING

Printing is available at both the public computers and walk-up computers. Printing is $.10 a page for black and white and $.30 a page for color.

WIRELESS PRINTING

Email your document as an attachment to

CLDesk@olpl365.onmicrosoft.com

To release your print, please see the staff at the Computer Center Desk.

3D PRINTING

Starting October 1, 2023, patrons can submit 3D Prints! Check our dedicated page for more details.

FAX AND COPY MACHINES

The fax machine is available for $1 per transmission on the second floor near the Computer Center. Cover sheets are available at the Computer Center Desk.
A copy machine is available on the second floor near the Computer Center. Copies are $.10 a page for black and white and $.30 a page for color.

USB Drives

USB drives are now available at the Computer Center Desk! See staff for more information.
