OLPL has different reading programs for patrons to participate in throughout the year. All reading programs are tracked through a website called Beanstack. Check out our programs below or stop by one service desks for more information.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Reading to children before they enter kindergarten is one of the best ways to prepare them to become good readers. It establishes good habits and pre-reading skills in the comfort of home.
Register your child for 1000 Books at https://olpl.beanstack.com/, then log each 100 books you read together. (Any book that is read — or re-read — to them counts!) Each time, they will earn a character sticker from Youth Services. At 1000 books, they earn a medal and a free book to take home.
Teens Read 4 Pizza
Read books and get free pizza! Read at least 4 nominees for the 2021 Teen Readers’ Choice Award by March to receive a free personal pan pizza from Lou Malnati’s. Keep reading and write reviews for more prizes like signed books and more. Open to teens in grades 9-12 (class of 2021-2024). Sign up at olpl.beanstack.org and click here to view a list of titles.
