About the Foundation
The Oak Lawn Community Library Foundation was established in 1993 to solicit private donations for maintaining library materials and services that exceed the normal operating budget. The Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization governed by a volunteer board of community members. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible. The funds are invested in a long-term fund.
The Foundation & OLPL’s Local History Area
In 2006, Oak Lawn Public Library became the official Village repository for all local history, inheriting the bulk of the collection from the Oak Lawn Historical Society. The expansive collection required a proper display room, archival supplies, display cases, and other items and services sufficient to maintain the history collection of Oak Lawn. The Foundation made its mission to properly establish and equip this department. Much of the collection needed to be scanned and digitized and then displayed for public viewing. The foundation also funded a subscription to an outside website and continues to fund the costs for annual displays and local history programs for the public.
