What I’m Looking Forward to Reading, early 2022 edition
I admit that the cover and title of this book are enough to intrigue me. I’m actually a huge map nerd (I love maps, and have always owned a good atlas, just in case I want to poke around and look at the world a bit), and then to have the story set in a Library? It’s like catnip. I’m also down for a good mystery, so with all these elements…well, I can’t wait to get my hands on it and see if it lives up to my high hopes. The Cartographers comes out on March 15, 2022.
In 2019, I watched the Chernobyl miniseries on HBO in rapt fascination. So the idea that someone is taking on the disaster in an interesting, different way is very appealing to me. This appears to involve women in different times working together to prevent the disaster from even happening, which says to me that there is time travel and there is science, and I AM HERE FOR IT. I love time travel books in general; the reactions of people from the past to things in present times delights me. Atomic Anna comes out on April 5, 2022.
I’m a leeeeeeettle bit cheating with this one, because the truth is, I already read it. I was able to get a digital advanced reader’s copy from the publisher, and I ripped right into it when I downloaded it. I absolutely loved Henry’s first book, Beach Read. And then, I’m sorry to say, I absolutely loathed her second, People We Meet on Vacation. I was super into the concept behind this–an enemies-to-lovers plot set in the publishing world–and I was desperately hoping it lived up to the first delightful read. Spoiler alert: IT DID IT DID IT DID. Book Lovers comes out on May 3, 2022.
Oh. my. word. A romance based on the Meghan Markle/Prince Harry real-life romance? SIGN ME UP. I confess that I’m a sucker for a love story, and I’m a sucker for a royal love story. I’ve never read any of this author’s books, but I have high hopes that the glitz and glamor of royalty will smash up brilliantly with the glitz and glamor of the rap world. Cannot. Wait. American Royalty comes out on June 28, 2022.
