- Dead Wake by Erik Larson
- Wednesday, October 10
- 11:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.
- 2nd floor
A riveting account of one of the most tragic events of WWI. Larson’s impeccable research and skill as a storyteller make this a work of historical suspense, as he weaves together information about the war, British Intelligence, submarine technology, the captains and passengers and crew aboard the two ships – and the many omens and “what ifs.”
"Because of our World War I exhibit, we wanted to choose a book for One Book, One Oak Lawn that is part of that era. This was our unanimous choice because of the theme and because Erik Larson is a very popular author who writes compelling, narrative non-fiction. It’s the type of book you want to talk about when you finish reading. Perfect!"
