place a hold?

First, is the item available in the library catalog?
Click on the black "Catalog" button in the top right corner of our website. Search for the item. Find the item you want, in the format you want. Then place a hold.

How do I place a hold?
After you find the item you want, click the “Place Hold” button. You will be prompted to enter your Oak Lawn library card number and PIN. This will log you into our system to place the hold. In the pop up, choose where you would like to pick up your item, then click “Place Hold”. You will know your hold has been successfully placed when the pop up says “Success”.

What's next after I place the hold?

By placing the hold, you are put in line to receive the requested material. When this material is available for you, you will be notified via an automated phone call, email, or text message to let you know the item is ready for pick up.

Not finding what you need in the library catalog?
We might still be able to help. Please contact the library's Interlibrary Loan, Adult Services, or Youth Services Departments via phone, email, or in person to place a request for materials outside of our system. When placing a request, we ask that patrons provide as much information as possible about the item requested along with their name, library card number, and phone number or email address.
