Book Club in a Bag

Are you in a book club or do you know anyone who is? If so, check out our list of titles of our new collection, “Oak Lawn Public Library Book Club In A Bag.” These sets are designed specifically for book clubs and have everything you need for checkout in one bag.

Each red and black canvas bag contains eight copies of the book, reviews, discussion questions and information about the author. There are currently 8 titles in our collection. Check out period is six weeks.

The bags are located on the second floor near the Adult Services Desk.

Multiple copies of the titles from the previous batch of Book Club in a Bag choices are now located in the same area. These are available for checkout as individual books, but you can check out as many as you need.

READ GATHER DISCUSS

The new season of book discussions begins in September 2015 and continues through April, with a wrap-up event in May. We have six groups, with different themes, times and locations. All discussions are led by Oak Lawn Library staff.

Refreshing Reads
Popular books brimming with character issues, moral choices and situations that are ripe for a lively discussion over a refreshing drink. Location: Avenue Flower Shop and Wine Bar (10632 S. Cicero)

20|30ish Books Club
Attention 20- and 30-somethings! Looking for a night out with drinks and a chance to discuss the books everyone is talking about? This club is for you. Location: Homestead Barr (9306 S. Central)

Day Reads/Night Reads
Back by popular demand! These titles include both fiction and non-fiction and each selection will be discussed twice, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. Location: Library

Irish Fiction
You don't have to be Irish to enjoy these great reads. They embody the rich cultural heritage of Irish literature and storytelling, ensuring a great discussion. Location: Library

Mysteries in the Morning
There is much to like in these gentle and often humorous books that are often referred to as "cozy mysteries." Location: Library

After-Hours Adventures
Location, location, location! Enjoy some armchair travel with books that have a strong sense of place and an interesting setting. Discussions will be held at the Library after closing on Fridays, accompanied by food and drink of the region. Location: Library
